Leroy
Extinct
From Debbie Kinyon and Pat Greene’s book, History of Leroy, second edition, on page 49:
…three old graves are known to exist on the northeast side of Phelps Creek. The bodies of two adults and one child are thought to be resting on the hillside toward the creek near Leroy Thompson Road.
The graves of two young children are located on an embankment opposite the Paine Falls Metro Park entrance. It’s thought they died of diphtheria.
Other graves scattered throughout the township are either unmarked or their stones have disappeared over time.
Bartlett Cemetery– Although its entrance is on the east side of Leroy-Thompson Road, this privately owned cemetery is set back far enough to be in Geauga County. It has about 50 graves, mostly Thompson residents.
