There is some evidence of a cemetery near “Turney’s Corners” which would be about Bates Road and E. Main Street. Amasa Hill was buried in this cemetery, and later removed to Fairview Cemetery, Section 3, Lot 264, Grave 1. He died about October of 1847. (Steed, Mildred, Soldiers and Widows of the American Revolution who lived in Lake County, Ohio. 1985)
This cemetery is shown on the 1874 Titus, Simmons & Titus Atlas on the south side of the South Ridge Road (St. Rte. 84). Three property owners in the area just west of Hyder Drive have mentions on their property records that there is a burial ground possibly on the property, but the location is not known. The property probably belonged to Orland Selby which was lot 15, 40 acres in the Paine Tract.
